Our Private Sector Housing team provides advice, inspection services and information in accordance with the Housing Act 2004.

  • Amenities, Space and Overcrowding guidance
  • Gas and electrical safety for home owners and for privately renting tenants
  • Disabled facility grants

  • Caravan site licensing
  • Immigration inspections
  • Decent homes grants or loans

  The team work closely with:

  • SHDC Housing Options team
  • Landlords
  • Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue
  • Lincolnshire Police
  • Lincolnshire Social Services

Our Private Sector Housing Team have authority to take legal action against landlords and home owners if they fail to comply with the Housing Act 2004.


Pending a review, this service is currently suspended.
South Holland District Council can offer a Disabled Facilities Grant for a range of adaptation work which is recommended by the Occupational Therapist.
Empty homes
We have an expectation that every empty property should be occupied.
The Housing Act 2004 made major changes to the way councils enforce housing standards in their areas with the introduction of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), which took effect in April 2006.
