South Holland District Council is running a series of free family fun days this summer through their 'Activate!' programme, a series of activity days for children and young people throughout August. These will take place during the week and move around towns and villages within the district.

'Activate!' days are designed to give children, young people and their families a free opportunity to try new sports and arts activities within their local community, making sure they make the most of the sun during the summer holidays and introducing them to opportunities in their local area.

Activities on offer will include a climbing wall, rowing machines, garden games, arts and crafts activities, a mobile skate park and sports activities running with 1Life. The full family is encouraged to come along with a picnic and stay for the day.

This summer 'Activate!' events will be held between 11am and 3pm at the following locations:

  • Wednesday 1st August - Carters Park, Holbeach
  • Wednesday 8th August - Snowden Field, Crowland
  • Thursday 16th August - Pinchbeck Library and Community Hub, Pinchbeck
  • Wednesday 22nd August - Memorial Park, Sutton Bridge
  • Wednesday 29th August - Gosberton House School, Gosberton

Councillor Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities, said: "It is great to see the Communities Team putting on another series of great and free events for people of all ages in a variety of local towns and villages this summer."

"The Activate days encourage families to make the most of the summer holidays and hopefully discover a passion for a new sport or activity that will last much longer than six weeks. It's fantastic that this opportunity is being spread out across the district and I would urge anyone interested to go along and try something new!"
