South Holland District Council hosted a celebration at their Priory Road office in Spalding on Monday September 3, with a ceremonial raising of the Red Ensign flag in recognition of the work and the service of members of the Merchant Navy.

A new housing development in Spalding will be named in honour of political activist and suffragette movement leader Emmeline Pankhurst, in what is the centenary year of the first women being recognised with the right to vote.
New cash and card payment machines installed in 3 Spalding car parks
Following the theft of the car parking machine in Spalding's Vine Street Car Park last year, a new machine has now been installed and will be operational from Tuesday 28th August 2018. The machine will continue to allow users to pay by coin whilst also introducing the new option to pay by card.
