Anyone looking to get active can come and enjoy a day of free activities to start off their summer at Castle Sports Complex in Spalding on July 22, with 1Life Festival and the Oceans of Fun Day.

The 1Life Festival will give people the opportunity to try a new sport or activity for free, meet with local clubs and see what is on offer in the district of South Holland.

Activities on offer will include free swimming, badminton, a bouncy castle, trying out the Complex's gym equipment and a variety of other clubs and classes providing free tasters. The festival is open to people of all ages and experience levels to come and explore, with the hope of helping people discover a new passion they can pursue over the summer months.

Oceans of Fun Day is open to 7-14 year olds who can swim at least 25 metres, giving them a unique opportunity to experience Olympic aquatic sports including water polo, synchronised and fast swimming. Olympic and Commonwealth Team GB athletes Adam Whitehead and Katie Clark will attend the event, sharing invaluable skills and inspiring stories about their success. Pre-booking through Castle Sports Complex is essential for this event as it is set to be popular.

Councillor Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities, said: "The 1Life Festival promises to be a jam-packed day showing off the best of what is on offer to residents at the Castle Sports Complex and the wider South Holland district.

"It will be a fun day for members of the community to spend time together and take part in exciting new activities they may not have previously had the opportunity to participate in, whilst also the chance to meet some inspiring athletes who are fantastic role models for any person thinking of taking up an activity."

Both events are free to attend, with 1Life Festival running between 10am and 4pm. To book on to the Oceans of Fun Day or for more information on the events please call the Castle Sports Complex on 01775 710496 / 762178 or email saspalding@1Life.co.uk.
