South Holland residents are being urged to 'go digital' in returning their annual canvass form.

These forms will be dropping through letterboxes throughout July and South Holland District Council is urging residents to make sure the information is accurate and up-to-date, and that they are returned, where possible, over the phone or online.

The council is offering these cost-efficient and environmentally-friendly methods of returning the forms, but if residents cannot respond in these ways, they can still post the completed form back in a pre-paid envelope.

The form will be addressed to "the occupier" containing details of all those in the household who are currently registered to vote to ensure they have their say at future opportunities, including next year's local elections.

Forms will be posted to all properties from Friday July 13 - and the returned information will be used to update the electoral register with the current details of households across the district.

Cllr Tracey Carter, Portfolio holder for governance and customer said: "We want as many of our residents as possible to be a part of the democratic process and have provided us with accurate information in preparation for future elections. Across all ages and demographics, whether you're 16 or 116, you can be signed up to the electoral register and it ensures you won't miss an opportunity to help shape the future of South Holland and the wider country.

"So regardless of whether you've ever voted before, please make sure you are signed up and have returned your form. Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have, and make sure you take control of your future and make the choice to use your voice."

Details of how residents can confirm their details will be printed on the form. If by the end of July residents still haven't received their Household Enquiry Form, or have any queries about the process, they can contact the SHDC Elections team on 01775 761161 or elections@sholland.gov.uk
