New play equipment and speed signs installed in Deeping St Nicholas

There's plenty of opportunity for outdoor fun in Deeping St Nicholas this summer after councillors from South Holland District Council and the Parish Council joined forces to fund the installation of new play equipment and interactive speed signs in the village.

Councillors Angela Harrison, Jim Astill and Bryan Alcock from the District Council along with the Parish Council, (through funding from the Wind Farm Committee), all contributed to support the insertion of the new slide and climbing frame, interactive boards and outdoor gym equipment in St Nicholas Park, as well as the interactive signs on Littleworth Drove informing motorists of their speed. 

William Rodwell, Parish Council chairman said, "The revamped play park is fantastic for children in the village and we are already seeing it get a lot of usage. I am sure it will prove extremely popular and encourage people to get out and enjoy the outdoors this summer." 

Cllr Harrison, (also Clerk to the Parish Council), added, "Outdoor play is a crucial part of children's lives so we are very pleased to see this work completed. Please use it, enjoy it and respect it - we hope it provides a lot of fun for many years to come!"

Cllr Astill stated, "We have seen speeding in towns and villages in South Holland become a hot topic in recent months, with initiatives like Community Speed Watch being one of several ways in which this is trying to be tackled. We hope that these interactive signs will make people consider their speed when driving through Deeping St Nicholas and hopefully make it a safer place to be."

Cllr Alcock said: "I am delighted to be able to help through my budget to enable the two projects, which I support, to go ahead. Both of these projects are ones which the parish council promoted and felt would be greatly beneficial. I hope that they will have the anticipated effects for all within the village."
