A summer of fun just round the corner in South Holland!

Summer Fun 2025

Posted on 18 July 2025

A summer of fun is just round the corner in South Holland with the local council announcing a jam-packed schedule of events for the upcoming school holidays.

Summer Fun 2025

The calendar of events which has been organised by the authority's Communities team will begin in less than two weeks' time, kicking off with 'Love Parks Week' - four fun-filled days of free activities from Monday 28 July until Thursday 31 July:

  • 11am till 3pm on Monday 28 July - Cowbit Playing Field
  • 11am till 3pm on Tuesday 29 July - Deeping St Nicholas Haywain Drive Playing Field
  • 11am till 3pm on Wednesday 30 July - Sutton Bridge Memorial Park Playing Field
  • 11am till 3pm on Thursday 31 July - Pinchbeck, Glebe Field.

Love Parks Week is national campaign which takes place every year and aims to highlight the importance of getting outdoors, connecting with nature and celebrating parks and green spaces. As part of this, families are invited to bring along a picnic to enjoy along with the great range of free activities available.

Visitors to each event can expect a mobile cave experience, a range of arts and craft activities, circus skills workshops as well as classic sports and garden games.

A Summer Fun digital brochure 2025 has also been produced, which can found on the council's website. The brochure includes a huge variety of events and activities happening across the district during the summer holidays, with no less than 174 separate activities such as arts and crafts, dance, football, music and swimming.

Another key highlight in this year's summer calendar is the return of the much-loved 1940s Weekend at Ayscoughfee Hall in Spalding taking place on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August.

This year the event will also tie in with the 80th anniversary of VJ (Victory in Japan) Day, which back on 15 August 1945 marked the end of the Second World War. The celebrations at Ayscoughfee will transport visitors back in time with vintage vehicles, live music from the era, historical reenactments and a host of family-friendly activities.

Later on in the summer, the ever-popular 'Give it a Go' will make its return on Sunday 31 August. The event will be held in Carters Park in Holbeach from 11am till 3pm and aims to bring together local families, community groups and activity providers to showcase the benefits of active and healthy lifestyles which are accessible in South Holland.

Visitors can try out a whole range of free activities, such as the mobile climbing wall or mobile cave, take part in arts and crafts, some classic garden games or sit back with a picnic in the sunshine and enjoy some musical stage performances.

Councillor Gary Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Community Development, said: "Our Communities team always go above and beyond every year to develop a fantastic programme of events for the summer holidays and this year is no different.

"Seeing families come together to enjoy the nice weather, take part in our free activities and have the chance to try something new is great to see; so please take a look at what's on offer and I hope to see as many people at these events as possible!"
