Chairlady, Councillor Jan Whitbourn opened Friendship Bench at Cedar Falls Care Home
Residents and staff at Cedar Falls Care Home in Spalding prepared for a heartwarming event as the Chairlady of South Holland District Council, Councillor Jan Whitbourn officially opened a new Friendship Bench on the home's grounds.

The ceremony, took place on the 17 June 2025,and celebrated community spirit and the importance of connection and companionship, especially among older adults. The Friendship Bench, nestled in the care home's beautifully landscaped gardens, was designed to be a welcoming space where residents, visitors, and staff could sit, chat, and enjoy moments of togetherness.

The Chairlady's visit highlighted the council's ongoing support for initiatives that promote mental well-being and social inclusion across the district. Her presence would be a special moment for Cedar Falls, which prides itself on creating a warm, caring environment for its residents.

Julie Britten, Home Manager at Cedar Falls, shared her excitement: "We're honoured to welcome the Chairlady and proud to unveil the Friendship Bench. It's a simple yet powerful symbol of the connections that make our community strong."
