HMS Taku Submarine Model Moves to Ayscoughfee Hall

On 21 May 2025, the model of HMS Taku—a British T-class submarine with strong historical ties to Spalding—was officially moved from the South Holland District Council offices on Priory Road to its new permanent home at Ayscoughfee Hall Museum. The model was previously on loan to the Council and has now been presented to the museum by the Spalding Branch of the Royal Naval Association.

HMS Taku, launched in 1939, played a significant role during World War II and was famously "adopted" by the people of Spalding during a wartime fundraising campaign. The move ensures that this important piece of local and national history will be more accessible to the public and preserved for future generations.
