Chairman's Half Marathon for Blood Cancer UK
Running for a Cause: Local Councillors Take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon
On April 6, 2025, the streets of London were filled with determination, camaraderie, and a powerful sense of purpose as thousands took part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Among them were Chairman Councillor Andrew Woolf, Councillor Ingrid Sheard, and their friend Mark Schmidt, who laced up their running shoes not just for the challenge, but for a cause close to their hearts—raising funds for Blood Cancer UK.

The trio's participation was more than symbolic. Through their collective efforts, they raised over £3,000 to support the vital work of Blood Cancer UK, a charity dedicated to funding research and providing support for those affected by blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Their commitment to the cause highlights the power of community leadership and personal action in driving meaningful change.

Councillor Woolf, known for his active role in local initiatives, expressed pride in the achievement, noting that the event was not only a physical challenge but also a deeply rewarding experience. Councillor Sheard echoed his sentiments, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness and funds for a disease that touches so many lives. Mark Schmidt, a close friend, and fellow runner, brought additional energy and enthusiasm to the team, helping to rally support from friends, family.

We are all incredibly proud of their achievement, by stepping up—literally and figuratively— their efforts will contribute to life-saving research and support services, bringing us one step closer to a future free from blood cancer.
