Air Quality in South Holland
Part IV of the Environment Act 1995 places a statutory duty on local authorities to review and assess the air quality within their area and take account of Government Guidance when undertaking such work.
South Holland District Council monitors air quality within the district using:
- 18 diffusion tubes located around the district which measure Nitrogen Oxides from traffic emissions. These are changed monthly and sent away for analysis.
- Continuous monitoring at Sutton Bridge of Nitrogen Oxides, Ozone and Particulate Matter (PM10)
- Continuous monitoring at Spalding of Nitrogen Oxides and Particulate Matter (PM10)
Results of this monitoring are used in the District's Review and Assessment of Local Air Quality and Nox tube data.
