Spalding Pumpkin Festival set to return next month!

Posted on 5 September 2025
Spalding town centre will once again be transformed into a hub of autumnal celebration with the much-loved Pumpkin Festival returning on Saturday 4 October, recognising South Holland's proud traditions of horticulture and harvest.
This year's festival, which will run from 11am till 3pm promises a vibrant programme of entertainment and activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy live music throughout the day on the 'Pumpkin Stage', alongside a special performance from the Polka Dots Pantomime
Families are encouraged to take part in a harvest-themed fancy dress competition, with prizes on offer for the best costumes. The seasonal-festival atmosphere will be brought to life with appearances from a woodland fairy stilt walker and Princess Anna, who will be entertaining crowds with magical walkabouts.
Families with children will find plenty to keep them busy throughout the day, with pumpkin crafts and decorating, face painting, balloon twisting and the chance to step inside the inflatable autumn globe and shadow box.
Striking pumpkin sculptures will once again provide seasonal photo opportunities to those making their way into town and visitors can expect to be greeted with the sights and sounds of a bustling festival market.
Additional stalls are set to combine with Spalding's usual Saturday market, showcasing a mix of gifts and crafts, jewellery, confectionery and charity tombolas, alongside a tempting range of food vendors including: Grasmere Farm, The Cheesy Pig, Cool Scoops, Bessie Bean, Waffle House, Eat Ya Fajita.
Local businesses will also be joining in the celebrations through the shop window display competition, adding even more autumnal colour and creativity to the town centre.
As in previous years, the festival will be supported by the council's partners offering additional activities. Spalding Library will be hosting themed crafts and activities from 10am until 12pm, while Broad Street Methodist Church will open its doors for free crafts in the church lounge between 10am and 1pm, as well as a coffee morning in the church hall from 10am until 12pm.
In addition to the main programme, the Spellbound Society will be returning to Spalding to host their 'Witch and Spiritual Market' at Polka Dot Studios, just a short walk from the town centre. Running alongside the Pumpkin Festival, the market will be packed with stalls offering seasonal and mystical treats.
Councillor Gary Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Community Development, said: "Our Communities & Events team go above and beyond every year to put on a truly brilliant Pumpkin Festival for all to enjoy and this year will once again prove to be no exception!
"As we all know the event is a highlight in Spalding's calendar and I'm really pleased we are able to celebrate our long history of horticulture and harvest, whilst bringing our local businesses and the wider community together for a day of food, fun and festivity."
