More than £210,000 awarded to South Holland community projects through UKSPF funded LCF GRASSroots scheme

More than £210,000 has been awarded to nearly 20 community projects through the Lincolnshire Community Foundation GRASSroots Scheme, funded by the UK Shared and Rural England Prosperity Funds.
Village halls, parish councils, sports clubs and community initiatives across South Holland are the latest to be awarded grants from the scheme, which has supported almost 200 projects across South and East Lincolnshire since it began in July 2023.
In this round, with match funding, more than £750,000 has been invested across the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership area (Boston, East Lindsey and South Holland).
In South Holland a total of £213,858 has been awarded to:
Deeping St Nicholas Parish Council - Redevelopment of play area to include more accessible equipment.
Spalding Common Village Hall - Refurbishment of toilet facilities.
Transported Arts - Funding for an art road trip project across South Holland.
Gedney Hill Parish Council - Refurbishment of the pavilion, providing a new kitchen facilities and renovation throughout
Spalding RFC - Improvements to the entrance and car parking facilities at the club.
Spalding United Youth Football Club- New floodlights at the Sir Halley Stewart Field.
Holbeach Community Larder - Support for the larder's ongoing work within the community.
Long Sutton Parish Council - New play equipment.
Saracen's Head Village Hall - Refurbishment at the hall, including roof insulation, along with decorating.
Sutton St Edmund Parish Council - Installation of outside play and exercise equipment.
Holbeach St Marks Community Association - Creation of a new outside community space at Holbeach St Marks Village Hall.
Project St Thomas, Spalding - Setting up a 'Tools & Talk' group to support socially isolated men in the Spalding area.
Gosberton Youth Centre - Provision of additional youth club sessions.
Crowland Leisure Centre - Provision of additional leisure equipment.
Greenwell Horticultural Therapy - Development of community gardens at Baytree Garden Centre.
Friends of Chain Bridge Forge - Community blacksmithing sessions and a programme to support young people into blacksmithing/traditional crafts.
Councillor Paul Redgate, portfolio holder for finance, said: "The response to the UKSPF GRASSroots scheme has been incredible since its launch in 2023, and this latest round is no exception.
"We are proud to be able to support such a diverse mix of projects, including those in our more rural villages, which share the goal of helping to enrich our communities and make South Holland an even better place to live, work and visit.
