What problems does our current way of working generate for residents?

The current service does not meet the new legislation requirements.

The uncontrolled amount of waste currently allowed often results in our waste crews being unable to complete their rounds, which results in frequent 'missed collections'.

The recycling performance for the Council is considered inadequate, e.g. the national recycling rate is currently 44%, with SHDC's current performance 31.5%, which has not improved in the past 10 years. The national target is to recycle 65% of all household waste by 2035.

The current contamination rate for recycling at SHDC is 20%, other Lincolnshire council's contamination rate is less than 9%.
