Hundreds Get Together to Give it a Go for Spalding sports and activity day
The event, part of South Holland District Council's 'SHout and About' health and wellbeing campaign, and the Great Get Together weekend in memory of Jo Cox MP, gave people the opportunity to try a new sport or activity for free, meet with local sports clubs and see what is on offer in the district.
20 clubs and activities supported the event, putting on a series of stalls and tasters, including demonstrations from Boogie Bounce trampoline fitness, Totally Shredded Drum N' Bass Workout and Hummingbird hypnotherapy and mindfulness among many more. On the sporting side there was representation from Spalding Town Tennis Club and Spalding Rink hockey club, as well as the chance to take part in archery, rowing, croquet, karate and netball.
Councillor Gary Taylor, South Holland Council Portfolio Holder for Community and Facilities, said: "The aim with Give it a Go and the SHout and About programme was to offer a fun, free opportunity for people to spend time with loved ones, trying exciting new activities and to share new and exciting ways of staying fit and healthy.
The next SHout and About events will be the Activate dates running throughout August in Holbeach, Crowland, Pinchbeck, Sutton Bridge and Gosberton. The Summer Fun brochure will also be distributed via primary schools before children break up for the summer.
