Get together and give it a go in Spalding this month
As part of The Great Get Together weekend and the SHout and About programme, South Holland District Council will be holding Give it a Go on June 24 at Sir Halley Stewart playing field in Spalding.
The event, running from 11am - 3pm, will give people the opportunity to try a new sport or activity for free, meet with local sports clubs and see what is on offer in the district. You can bring along a picnic and enjoy a wide range of free activities including cooking demonstrations, face painting, garden games, art and craft activities and much more.
The first ever Great Get Together was held last year, when over 120,000 events, large and small, took place across the UK to mark the first anniversary of the murder of Jo Cox MP. At the request of her family, this year the occasion has been moved to what would have been Jo's birthday weekend, June 22 - 24.
Councillor Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities, said: "We are aiming to organise a fun day for members of the community to spend time together with and their loved ones, trying exciting new activities which can also positively benefit their health and wellbeing. So please come along, bring a picnic and try out something brand new for free, it promises to be a great day."
The event is free and all activities are free. For more information contact the Communities Team on 01775 761161 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
