SHout and About gardening workshops mark National Gardening Week
The SHout and About Quest Competition held four gardening workshops to celebrate National Gardening Week (April 30-May 6).
The workshops in Spalding, Donington, Crowland and Long Sutton were attended by 80 people, while other participants took part in challenges at home.
May 14-20 will be the SHout and About Wellbeing Week, to coincide with National Mental Health Awareness week.
Participants can attend free sessions to support their mental wellbeing, and on Thursday May 17 and Saturday May 19 it will host the Healthy Happy Minds event at Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens.
The event will include yoga and mindfulness classes, mosaic and lantern making sessions, guided tours of Ayscoughfee Gardens, taster holistic treatments, a Safe Places meeting group, drumming workshops (May 19 only) and information about local services.
Everyone is welcome.
Councillor Gary Taylor, South Holland Council Portfolio Holder for Community and Facilities said: "It's great that so many people took advantage of the brilliant weather during National Gardening Week to enjoy our garden events and challenges. There's a strong link between outdoor activity and physical and mental wellbeing, so this links well to our forthcoming Wellbeing Week events."
SHout and About Quest is funded by Leisure in the Community and the South Holland District Council. It runs until July 1 and people can still sign up to take part in the free activities and win great prizes. Find out more at www.sholland.gov.uk/shoutandabout or
