Sunshine boosts attendance for Walk on the Wild Side at nature reserve

Over 120 people took advantage of Sunday's warm weather and sunshine to enjoy the SHout and About Quest's Walk on the Wild Side event at Willow Tree Fen Nature Reserve.

Activities included taking part in walking trails, nature watching, exercise taster sessions, craft and cooking activities, talks and activities from the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust - and just enjoying the nature reserve

SHout and About is a 12-week series of activities aimed at getting people to try different free fun activities, helping them to be more active and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
Shout and About is jointly funded by South Holland District Council and Leisure in the Community, with sponsorship from 1 Life and Manor Fresh.

People can take part as individuals, or with their family, friends or colleagues as teams.
Each activity they participate in earns points and everyone gets a prize at the end of the programme - with a chance to win up to £200 in vouchers.

Councillor Gary Taylor, South Holland Council Portfolio Holder for Community and Facilities, thanked Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust for use of their reserve, and for the support and activities provided by their warden and volunteers:
"This has been a wonderful day, and it's great that so many people came out to support this SHout and About event," he said.
"Spending time outdoors is great for your physical fitness but it is also a natural stress buster, so we're very fortunate that our district has so much beautiful countryside that residents can enjoy for free right on their doorstep."
