South Holland District Council as a local authority has certain duties placed upon it by the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 - to prepare for, respond to and recover from major civil emergencies - and to promote resilience in the business sector by offering business continuity advice.
Under the Public Health (Control of Diseases) Act 1984 , where a person dies within the district and nobody is making the funeral arrangements, the local authority will in certain circumstances arrange the funeral.
