Six figure charitable donation made by South Holland District Council housing company

Posted on 31 March 2022

Welland Homes, a housing company wholly owned by South Holland District Council, has taken the decision to donate £115,000 for the year to two local charities, helping to support in-need residents in the District.

The company was incorporated in 2015, established with the aim of increasing housing supply in the area to meet existing demand, to set high standards for housing design in the District and improve the quality of rental accommodation available to residents.

Following another successful financial year, the company, which currently has 39 open market rental properties in its ownership, will look to donate its profit margin to two local charities: Citizens Advice South Lincolnshire and the Lincolnshire Community Voluntary Services.

Citizens Advice will receive £84,000 as part of the decision. These funds will be used towards their aim of providing free, independent, confidential and impartial advice on rights and responsibilities, as well as support on a range of matters including money advice, welfare support, employment, housing and family and personal matters.

The remaining £31,000 will go to Lincolnshire Community Voluntary Services, who work in the District to enable individuals and groups to make a real difference in building stronger and sustainable communities through community engagement and promoting and supporting volunteering.

Both charities will receive the funds by the end of March.

Members of the Welland Homes Board welcomed the decision saying: "After seven years we are incredibly pleased that we are still seeing fantastic development and growth from Welland Homes, with another profitable year proving testament to the hard work of everyone involved.

"Supporting those residents in need, and those groups and individuals who need additional assistance is so important, especially at this time, and we are proud to be able to show our continued commitment to these causes through this significant donation. We hope that it will help to make a real difference for our people and communities in South Holland."
