SHDC lays out plans to bring play area and picnicking to Moulton Park

South Holland District Council has this week laid out initial plans to work in partnership with Moulton Parish Council to bring parts of Moulton Park into public use, with a play area, picnic space and off-street parking all proposed as part of the initiative.
The plans have been created following feedback from the Parish and residents of a desire to start using the land as soon as possible, as well as the importance of being able to offer safe and accessible outdoor space for children and families to enjoy, which has been highlighted more than ever during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Under the proposal a section of the Park would be made available to the Parish Council on a long lease, with the District and Parish working together to attain planning consent for a play area and picnic space for residents and visitors to enjoy, with off-road car parking and a new footpath on Bell Lane.
It forms a stripped-back version of previous plans which were being worked on to open up the space for residents, which have been simplified to help get the project started, as a response to the impact of the pandemic and to ensure that the space can be brought into community use as quickly as possible.
Councillor Anthony Casson, portfolio holder for public protection and ward member for Moulton, Weston and Cowbit, said: "I am really pleased that we are able to make this proposal to the Parish Council, and hope that it will see us make positive progress towards opening up this valuable outdoor space to our residents, whilst setting the foundations for our long-term ambitions for the Park to serve the community of Moulton and South Holland.
"By working in partnership with the Parish, we hope to be able to work quickly and effectively together, and begin developing the site into a space that people from across the District can enjoy, providing a safe and enjoyable place for outdoor recreation for many years to come."
