More businesses to receive vital funding as latest grant scheme closes
Posted on 4 August 2020
The second phase of South Holland District Council's discretionary grant scheme for businesses in the District has now closed for new applications.
The funding initiative, which opened on Monday (3 August), was designed to allow a wide array of businesses in the District to access vital funding of £5,000 to support them through the impact of coronavirus.
Further to the £17.2m already distributed to over 1,500 businesses in the District through previous schemes, there was an incredible response to the latest opportunity, with the available funds now provisionally allocated and being processed and awarded by the Council's economic development team on a first come first served basis.
The application period is now closed as the finite amount of funding allocated to the district for discretionary business grants by central government has now been fully accounted following the latest set of claims. With a large number of applications to work through, businesses are asked to be patient while the team process and distribute the grants. All grants will be paid as soon as possible and any business that have already applied are reminded they do not need to contact the Council to ask when their payments will be made.
Councillor Nick Worth, deputy leader and portfolio holder for growth and commercialisation, said: "The response to this latest funding opportunity has been phenomenal, and highlights the importance of our work to help identify those businesses of all sectors and sizes who have not been able to benefit from previous government support schemes and ensure they get the help they need during this difficult time.
"The team are working hard to process these applications as quickly as possible and get the money out to those who need it in the district. Every application has to be verified and checked before being signed off, but please bear with the team as they work through them."
Any business who are unsure of what help is available to them should visit the government's Support Finder tool and the Business Lincolnshire Growth Hub website, which provide access to the latest COVID-19 information and other business support.
