Coronavirus Update: Cemeteries
Posted on 18 May 2020
From today (Monday 18 May), South Holland District Council has taken the decision to re-open Spalding Cemetery at its normal opening hours, in line with the latest Government guidance.
The gates will now be open for visitors from 9am-6.30pm (Monday to Friday) and 10am to 6.30pm (weekends).
It had previously been open on reduced hours from 9am to 2pm Monday to Friday to allow for increased staff presence to monitor cases of anti-social behaviour and ensure that social distancing guidelines were adhered to.
Government guidance allow for people to leave home to visit a burial ground or garden of remembrance, to pay respects to a member of the person's household, a family member or friend.
Even with these new guidelines in place visitors are urged to remain aware of their surroundings and those around them, and to ensure they remain two metres apart from any other visitors or staff throughout their time there. Thank you.
