Threatened with homelessness

You should get advice as soon as possible if you are homeless or threatened with homelessness within the next 56 days, or have received a valid notice to quit from your landlord.  To access this service, please complete the self-referral form to provide us with information about your housing situation.

Important information:

  • It will take between 30 and 45 minutes to complete this form - please do not spend your time completing this form if you are not homeless, threatened with homelessness within the next 56 days (as your referral may not be considered).
     
  • Please do not ring our Customer Services team in an attempt to avoid filling out this form - they will direct you back to the website.
     
  • After receiving your form, we will review the information and contact you within 10 working days.  Please allow us the full 10 working days to contact you - do not contact us during this time unless there has been a significant change of circumstances.
     
  • Whilst you are waiting for us to contact you, please try to resolve the situation by yourself. See what steps you can take to stay where you are by speaking to your landlord/mortgage company/family and friends. If you cannot continue to stay where you are, use this time to look for new a property to move to - look on Rightmove, the local newspaper, Facebook etc. The Housing Register. You need to be realistic about the options available to you, including considering all property types and locations suitable for your household.

Assessments and personalised housing plans

You need to complete a self referral to have your situation assessed. (See the threatened with homelessness section above for more information).

If you are considered to be homeless or threatened with homelessness within 56 days, we will assess your situation and completed a personalised housing plan with you. This plan will set out actions that you need to take to prevent your homelessness and/or steps for you to take to secure alternative accommodation. We have a high number of households needing advice, and cannot look for accommodation for you. You need to be realistic about the options available to you including considering all property types and locations suitable for your household.

Homeless strategy

The Homelessness Code of Guidance outlines the reasons why someone is unintentionally homeless. Where accommodation is provided, the housing authority must be satisfied that the accommodation will be available for at least six months.

Assessments and personalised housing plans

Severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP)

Icon for pdf Lincolnshire Severe Weather Protocol (SWEP) 2020/21 [637.2KB] is a voluntary process that is put in place by district housing authorities to ensure that people sleeping rough are not at risk of harm or, in the worst case, of dying during periods of extreme cold or severe weather.

Homeless today with nowhere to stay tonight or at imminent risk of violence/harm in your home

  • If you have nowhere to stay tonight and will be street homeless, please call 01775 761161 or our free phone number 0808 100 0210. No-one should have to sleep rough.
     
  • If you are at imminent risk of violence or harm in your home and do not have anywhere safe to stay tonight, please call 01775 761161 or our free phone number 0808 100 0210.
     
  • We will assess whether or not you are an emergency case. If you have somewhere to stay tonight and it is safe to do so, you will be advised to complete the self-referral form. (See the threatened with homelessness section above for more information).
     
  • Please do not phone us unless you are genuinely homeless today and have nowhere to stay temporarily.
