Coronavirus information and support
The government has removed remaining domestic restrictions in England. There are still steps you can take to reduce the risk of catching and spreading COVID-19:
From 24 February 2022, if you test positive for COVID-19 you are advised to stay at home, but will no longer be required to self-isolate.
From 1 April, the Government will no longer provide free PCR and rapid lateral flow tests for the general public in England. There will be some limited ongoing free testing:
- Limited PCR tests will be available for a small number of at-risk groups. National government will set out further details on which groups will be eligible.
- Free PCR tests will remain available to social care staff.
Face coverings and face masks will continue to be required in health and care settings to comply with infection prevention and control (IPC) and adult social care guidance.

There are still steps you can take to reduce the risk of catching and spreading COVID-19:
- Get vaccinated to reduce your risk of catching COVID-19 and becoming seriously ill, and to reduce the risk of spreading the virus to others
- Let fresh air in if meeting indoors, or meet outside to disperse COVID-19 particles and reduce the risk of spreading the virus
- Consider wearing a face covering in crowded, enclosed spaces
- Try to avoid contact with others or stay at home if you don't feel well.
- Wash your hands regularly; cover your coughs and sneezes and clean your surroundings frequently.
If you do get COVID-19, please read the NHS guidance on How to look after yourself at home if you have coronavirus.
The NHS is offering new antibody and antiviral treatments to people with coronavirus who are at highest risk of becoming seriously ill. Read more about treatments for coronavirus on the NHS website.
