Assisted Refuse Collections (Point of Storage)



How we provide this service

Information about assisted refuse or recycling collection is supported by Community & Neighbourhood Services, Waste Services.

Assisted collection is a service we offer if you are physically unable to move your household waste or recycling to the boundary of your property. Each case is assessed individually and you will need to complete an application form and submit it to the Neighbourhood Services Team.

What to do to get this service

You can contact Customer Services (01775 761161) to request an application form or download the application form (PDF), complete it, and then return it to us.

The form needs to be completed as fully as possible and signed. Please explain the reasons why you are unable to move your refuse and/or recycling sack to the boundary of your property.

Each case is assessed on an individual basis and we will let you know if your application has been approved within two weeks. If approved, we will then give you details of when your point of storage collections will start.

How much will it cost?

This service is free.

How long will I have to wait for a response?

We will respond to your application within 14 days.

Common Questions

Q. Where will you collect my waste or recycling from?
A. We will collect from a point which is outside of your property, for example outside a front door or porch; outside the back door or near the garage.

Q. Will you collect from inside my shed?
A. No, we cannot collect from inside any kind of container, for example a dustbin, or enter any part of your property like a shed or greenhouse.

Q. When do I need to make sure my waste or recycling is outside?
A. You need to have your waste or recycling at your agreed point of storage by 7:00 am on your day of collection.

Q. How do I know when my recycling or waste collection day is?
A. We will tell you the dates when we approve your application or you can either click on the 'my collections' part of this website (see home page) or telephone a Customer Service Advisor on 01775 761161 during office hours.
