Anyone who is currently, or may become, a business ratepayer in our area.

How much will it cost?

All advice and guidance is free.

How long will I have to wait for a response?

The majority of enquiries receive an immediate response. A few of a more technical nature will receive a response within 10 working days.

How long will the whole process take?

Most matters are dealt with within 10 working days of us receiving the information.

What do I need to provide?

Confirmation in writing is required if a property is purchased, sold, leased or becomes empty.

Common Questions

Q. How much is the business rates for the property?
A. Every property is different therefore you can contact us on 01775 761161 and ask for the Business Rate Section.

Q. How do I make my payments?
A. You can pay using the following methods:

  • Direct Debit:

This is a simple and convenient way for you to pay. Just phone us to set it up. Please remember to have your bank details ready when you phone. Alternatively, you can call into our offices and complete a direct debit mandate.

  • Internet Payments:

Debit Card Only. Visit our website sholland.gov.uk and go to the "Do It Online" section. Click on payments and follow the instructions.

  • Telephone Payments - Anytime, Any Day - Debit Card Only:

Just ring 0845 6031714 (your call will be charged at local rate). You can also check your account balance using this service.

  • Home and Online Banking:

To pay us, please quote our bank sort code, 30-00-00 and our bank account number 00211567. Don't forget to also quote your Business Rate reference number. Please allow 5 working days for your payment to reach us.

  • Post Office:

You can pay at any post office by filling in a Standard Transcash form. You will have to pay £2.20 each time you use this service. Your payment needs to go the Council's Girobank Account number 2154625. Don't forget to quote your Business Rate reference number. Please allow 5 working days for your payment to reach us.

  • Post:

Please make your cheque payable to South Holland District Council and send it to PO Box 8, Spalding, Lincs, PE11 2XQ. You should write your Business Rate reference number on the back of the cheque. If you are sending a cheque for more than one account please list the account numbers and the amount you are paying for each one. Post dated cheques cannot be accepted. It is not safe to send cash through the post.

  • In Person:

Visit our Payment Office, Priory Road, Spalding on any weekday between 8.30am and 4.45 pm. You can pay by debit card, cheque or cash.
