Consultation, Surveys and Community Engagement

How we provide this service

The consultation overview is supported by Assistant Chief Executive, Partnerships Team.

The council's strategy for engaging with the communities of place and communities of interest in South Holland forms an important part of our overall approach to providing information (so that people can make informed choices), improving services and empowering people and communities.

The rural nature and dispersed population of South Holland poses challenges in engaging with individuals and communities so that all sections of the community are fairly represented, have opportunities to participate and are involved in decisions that affect them.

Our key objectives are to:

  • Listen and learn from the community.
  • Inform the Community of our policies and priorities.
  • Find out what issues the community feel strongly about and to debate these with the community.
  • Consult and encourage participation, for example when plans are being made and there are choices about options and details.
  • Empower individuals and communities, giving people opportunities for a deeper level of involvement in decisions that affect them.
