What to do to get this service
The licensing of zoos is a specialist field and the regulations are complex. if you are thinking of setting up a zoo, it is recommended that you contact the Licensing Officer first for advice and guidance.
The Licensing Officer will need to consult with the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and will need to appoint a specialist inspector.
The zoo inspector and Council Officer will carry out an inspection of the site and animals, after which the inspector may make recommendations to the Council, including certain licence conditions that he/she feels are appropriate for the individual premises.
