Licence - Riding establishments
How we provide this service
Licence for riding establishment is supported by Community & Neighbourhood Services, Food Safety & Licensing.
A Riding Establishment licence is needed by any premises carrying on a business of keeping horses to let them out for hire or riding instruction.
Riding establishments must be licensed, and the licences are renewable annually. The council will arrange for the inspection of horses and premises by a veterinary surgeon to ensure the welfare of the animals and that the accommodation is suitable. The licence will be issued subject to compliance with licence conditions and payment of the licence fee.
The act applies to donkeys, mules and jennets as well as horses.
