How we provide this service

Information on Listed buildings and who to contact if you wish to discuss more and how to find out which buildings are listed is supported by Planning and Development, Planning.

The Council holds a register of all the listed buildings in our district. If you wish to find out if a particular property is listed, you can now check online using our Online Mapping facility (new window). [Details & Restrictions of the Mapping Service]

Alternatively, if you would like to view the register please contact us on 01775 761161 and ask for the Conservation Team.

The Conservation Team handles many duties, one of which is the control of listed buildings. There are three separate grades of a listed building Grade I, Grade II and GradeII*.

Any external work which you wish to do to a listed building will require Listed Building Consent; this also applies if the works you intend to do are in the grounds of or affect a listed building. You may also need to apply for Planning Permission in the usual way as Listed Building Consent is designed to obtain consent to do the work to a listed building and not to obtain regular Planning Permission.

How much will it cost?

It is free to submit a Listed Building Consent form. However the usual charges apply for planning permission if that is also required.
