What to do to get this service

Most planning applications are now available online via our Planning Searches service. Certain applications (mainly older) are not yet available via this system, but can be requested for viewing via Customer Services, preferably by prearranged appointment.

The Planning Searches service also provides access to our list of recent applications. To display the 'Weekly List', in the Advanced Search section, choose 'Whole District' (or choose a particular district) from the Locality/Ward drop down, select the 'The Weekly List' from the Period to Search options and then select the 'Search for applications' button. If you would like any further information about the applications displayed on this list please contact us on 01775 761161.

If you wish to comment on a current application, once you have found the application details via the Planning Searches service, you can select the 'Comment on this application' button. You will then be presented with a form that you can fill out and submit online.

For more detailed information about our planning services, plus information on decisions, appeals or how to comment on an application please visit our Planning Web Pages.

Common Questions

Q. Can I view plans for an application?
A. Yes all current applications are available for inspection by the public. These are available online via our Planning Searches service, and in the Priory Road offices.

Q. Can I see details of any objections that have been raised?
A. The copy of the application which the planning officer works on holds more technical information including consultations, objection letters. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that these are available for inspection it is not always possible to guarantee their availability as the officer could be working on the file. However, these should be available online.

Q. Can I have copies of plans and applications?
A. Generally yes, but there is a nominal charge for photocopying documents. All the documents in a current, undecided application can be copied however, once a decision has been made we cannot copy architects drawings or plans without their written permission.

Q. Can I view an application at any other location?
A. Apart from at the Council Offices, applications are now available online, so you are able to view application details wherever you have computer access; at work, home, libraries, internet cafes, etc.

Q. Can I see a list of recent applications made?
A. Yes - The Planning Searches service also provides access to our list of recent applications. To display the 'Weekly List', in the Advanced Search section, choose 'Whole District' (or choose a particular district) from the Locality/Ward drop down, select the 'The Weekly List' from the Period to Search options and then select the 'Search for applications' button.

Q. Can I object to a planning application?
A. Yes, anyone can object to an undetermined planning application. There is a set time limit during which all comments, either supporting or objecting to the application, must be received. Please contact the Customer Service Team to find out the expiry date for consultations on each individual application. Alternatively, use our Planning Searches service to find the application and link through to the online consultation form.
