Recycling Collections Information



How we provide this service

Information about the provision and delivery of recycling sacks, for the collection of domestic recyclable items, from the kerbside is supported by Community & Neighbourhood Services, Waste Services.

What to do to get this service

All properties in South Holland receive a weekly kerbside recycling collection service.

How to recycle

Please present your recycling in any of the following containers on your collection day:

  • SHDC green recycling sacks
  • other coloured bag
  • cardboard box (to be recycled)
  • carrier bags

Recycling will not be collected in black sacks.

Your recycling will be collected from where you normally place your refuse bags for collection. This is usually a point on your property which is nearest to the public highway. Please can you make sure that your recycling is out ready by 7:00am on the day of your collection.

Additional recycling sacks

Additional green recycling sacks (to your normal delivery) may be collected from:

a) the Council Offices in Priory Road, Spalding (Monday-Friday)
b) Market House, Long Sutton (Tuesdays and Friday).
c) Holbeach, Crowland, Spalding, Pinchbeck, Long Sutton or Donington libraries

How much will it cost?

Provision/Delivery of recycling sacks and their collection are provided as part of our normal service and do not attract an additional charge.

Common Questions

Q. What can be presented for the weekly recycling collections?
A. Newspapers and magazines, writing paper/all envelopes, cardboard, junk mail, telephone books and yellow pages, mail order catalogues, all steel and aluminium drink cans, food tins/pet food tins, clean tin foil/tin foil trays, empty aerosol cans, glass bottles and jars, waxed drink cartons (tetra packs), unusable cloths and shoes, plastic drink and milk bottles, all plastic bottles /tops, carrier bags, yoghurt pots, margarine/ice cream tubs, plastic films.

Q. What cannot be presented for the weekly recycling collections?
A. Polystyrene foam, garden waste, toys, electrical items, batteries, inflatables, light bulbs, wood, glass panes, Pyrex dishes, kitchen waste, clinical or commercial waste.

Q. What do I do if I have run out of green recycling sacks?
A. Please present additional recycling in carrier bags, coloured bags (e.g. white swing bin liners), cardboard boxes that can e recycled also (just not black bags). Additional green recycling sacks (to your normal delivery) may also be collected from (free of charge):

a) the Council Offices in Priory Road, Spalding (Monday-Friday)
b) Market House, Long Sutton.
c) All libraries in South Holland.
