Refuse and recycling collections
How we provide this service
Collection of household waste is supported by Environmental Services, Waste Services.
Weekly collections
Refuse collections
A weekly kerbside collection is provided for all householders in South Holland to dispose of their refuse. This black sack collection is for non-recyclable waste only.
Recycling collections
Recycling collections operate on a weekly basis and cover all properties in the South Holland District. Materials left out for this collection can be presented in SHDC green sacks, carrier bags, cardboard boxes or a suitable rigid container. Please be aware that any recycling presented in black sacks will not be collected.
A list of what can be recycled is available on theĀ Recycling Guide page.
When Are My Collections Days?
To find out your refuse and recycling collection days please see the My Collections page.
Please put your refuse and recycling out for collection before 7am on the day of your collection.

Sack Deliveries
Each household receives 52 black sacks and 52 green sacks a year. These are delivered twice a year. To find out when the next estimated delivery date is for your property please visit the My Collections page. Additional green bags are available free of charge from the SHDC Council Offices and libraries across the district. If more black bags are needed these can be purchased from most hardware stores and supermarkets.
If you are a new resident and require a black and green sack delivery please contact the Customer Services team on 01775 761161.
Collection Policy
Both domestic waste and recycling collections are made from the curtilage of your property. This is the point where your property joins a public highway. In most cases this will be at the end of a garden path or driveway; however for properties on a shared private drive, waste must be placed at the end of the driveway. If in doubt, please contact Customer Services.
If you have any difficulty moving your waste to the designated point of collection please visit theĀ Assisted Refuse Collections (Point of Storage) page. This has information on how we can help make your waste collection easier to manage.
