Repairs - re-decoration vouchers



How we provide this service

A decoration allowance is a payment given to a tenant for one of the following reasons:

- a new tenant going into their new home
- following major repairs or programmed works within their home for example re-plastering.

This service is supported by Housing & Property Service Unit, Construction Services.

What to do to get this service

New Council Tenants

When you come in to sign you tenancy agreement we will let you know whether or not you are entitled to a decorating voucher which you can use to help decorate your new home. The amount depends on the condition of the property at the time of the void inspection and it can be exchanged for internal paint, wallpaper and wallpaper paste at local participating stores. Along with the voucher we will give you a list of the stores you can go to. The voucher is valid for 6 months.

Existing Council Tenants

In some cases we will give you a decorating voucher to make good decoration after major/programmed works.

To apply for a decoration allowance for you must put your request in writing to the Council detailing the following information:

- your name
- address
- reason why you are requesting to this allowance.
