How we provide this service

The Council provide supported housing for people over the age of 60. This is also called Sheltered Housing. This service is supported by Housing & Property Service Unit, Supported Housing.

Supporting People is a change in the way that councils, landlords and Housing Benefit pay for extra "support services". These are items not covered by rent payments, such as alarm systems, maintenance of communal areas and equipment.

The Government has brought in this change to try to increase the range of services provided so that as many people as possible can live independent lives.
