Keeping Diary Sheets

If you have contacted our Anti-Social Behaviour officer regarding an incident you may be asked to complete a diary sheet giving details of what you have been experiencing. You can download diary sheets below.

Diary Sheets (PDF , 44KB)

The diary sheets help the officer to evaluate the extent of the problem and may if necessary be used as evidence if formal action is subsequently taken. Although it may seem time consuming it is important for you to include as much information as possible.

It is important to include as much detail as possible about what has happened and how it affects you. For example, noise prevented me from watching TV, woke me up and prevented me from getting back to sleep, woke up and scared the children; had to miss work because of stress, tiredness, had to visit doctor etc." Also include any damage to property.

Diary sheets should where possible be completed as soon as an event has happened, not for example a week later. If you prefer to keep a note elsewhere and then copy the details onto the diary sheet the officer may ask for a copy of the original notes.

Try to include as much factual information as possible. If foul or abusive language has been used towards you then it should be recorded. If you do not feel comfortable about this then you can use asterisks to show the word.

If you are in any doubt about what to record and include the Anti-Social Behaviour officer will be able to advise you.
