Join the Civicrowd page on the council’s website to get your views across on how you would like to see a real difference being made in the community where you live.
The Big Society concept is about people in the area where you live helping themselves to get things done rather than relying on services simply being provided by the local council, says SHDC Deputy Leader Nick Worth.
If you live or work in South Holland you can join in the debate to get things sorted out in your community. Where a project idea needs funding, cash might be made available through the Designated Councillor Budgets scheme.
It doesn’t matter how big or small your idea is, SHDC wants to hear from you. The council cannot guarantee that every idea suggested will be used but at least you’ll be able to get it off your chest.
Councillor Worth said: “The Big Society is all about people getting involved and making a real difference to the communities they live in. It is really important that we hear from our people to see what they think can be done to improve or change things.
“People can also make their suggestions to their local ward councillors and it might be worth considering under the Designated Councillor Budgets scheme which can provide funding for grassroots community projects.”
When your idea has been published, it will appear on the Civicrowd web page where others can vote on it. There you can vote and rate an idea. You can also give feedback, thoughts and ideas by adding a comment.
The Designated Councillor Budgets scheme, as voted for by SHDC, provides £5,000 for each ward member to help fund community projects throughout a financial year. As the scheme came into force partway through 2011/12, the budget this year is £4,000.
