Ayscoughfee Hall Museum Education

Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens education programme is available for all key stages and all learners!

The 1840s mahogany panelled Library at Ayscoughfee Hall Museum

The programme uses the Museum's collection, the Hall itself and Ayscoughfee Gardens as the basis for a variety of engaging self led sessions. It has strong links to the National Curriculum and offers a broad range of themes. Have a look at our new pack featuring joint study in Ayscoughfee Hall and our next door neighbour, St Mary and St Nicolas Parish Church.

Resource Pack One provides resources to support the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1 and 2, while Resource Pack Two provides resources to support the National Curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4. We've also got an Information Pack for Special Educational Needs, as well as our Joint Resource Pack with St Mary and St Nicolas Parish Church next door.

The resource packs have been designed to support teacher-led self-directed class visits to Ayscoughfee Hall and Gardens. However, the Museum Officer is available to help plan a successful visit and encourage teachers to visit before bringing their class.

There is no charge for making self-directed visits to the Museum.

The resource packs provide ideas, information and practical advice for pupils engaging with Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens, as well as details and descriptions of the many reproduction artefacts in our resource boxes that can be included in your visit to add something extra!

Simply select one of the study themes that fit in with your curriculum plan, arrange a pre-visit meeting to discuss your plan, then book your visit.

Each theme contains:

  • pre-visit activity ideas
  • information sheets for adults or good readers to use in small group work during your visit
  • worksheets to use during your visit are also available to download separately so that they can be edited for differentiation by teachers
  • information on the resource handling boxes and interactive displays in the Museum
  • follow-up ideas to try back at school

We also provide evaluation forms, so that you can let us know what you thought of your visit!
