The Queen's Diamond Jubilee 2012

To mark 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, Diamond Jubilee celebrations will take place in 2012.

The celebrations will mainly be centred around the extended weekend of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th June.

There is a long and unbroken tradition in this country of celebrating royal jubilees with the lighting of beacons. The plan for 2012 is to light 2012 beacons across the UK, with Her Majesty lighting the National Beacon on Monday 4th June.

In South Holland, lots of celebrations are planned including the lighting of beacons, family fun days and community lunches. To find out what is happening in your area see the "What's On" pages.

Please use the Guide to Taking Part if you are interested in getting involved and also contact Community Development with your ideas on 01775 761161 or community@sholland.gov.uk

Many streets will want to organise a Street Party. SHDC has produced a Street Party Toolkit (PDF, 2403KB)  that contains all that communities need to consider when organising these celebrations. To apply for a road closure you will need to complete the following form and return it back to Lincolnshire County Council Traffic Orders Office (allowing at least six weeks notice).
