On 4th July 2012, the Olympic Torch Relay will pass through 5 of South Holland’s communities: Spalding, Moulton, Whaplode, Holbeach and Long Sutton.
To ensure its smooth journey and to make the area as safe as possible for crowds who want to welcome the Torch to South Holland a number of traffic management measures have been put in place.
No Waiting Order
Certain roads along the route will have a no waiting order. Vehicles will not be able to park on all or part of these roads on the morning of 4th July – this will come into effect in the evening of 3rd July. If you normally park your vehicle on one of these roads, please find alternative parking for the evening of 3rd July and morning of 4th July.
Spalding: Bourne Road, Winsover Road, Station Street, Sheep Market, The Crescent, Vine Street, Spring Gardens, Priory Road, Haverfield Road, London Road, Hall Place, Church Street, Halmergate.
Moulton: A151 High Road
Whaplode: A151 High Road, A151 Spalding Road
Holbeach: A151 Spalding Road, West End, High Street, Fleet Street, Fleet Road
Long Sutton: Gedney Road, Market Street, High Street, London Road
Road Closures and Timings
While the Torch passes through South Holland’s streets there will temporarily be road closures on the main route and also for adjoining roads.
Road closures will be implemented on a rolling basis and roads will be opened again as soon as possible. The timings listed below will give the approximate time that the road closures will commence. Please note that these are subject to change on the day.
Road closures are in place for public safety. If you are travelling through the communities on the route on 4th July, please be aware that there may be some disruption to your journey. We aim to keep disruption to a minimum as far as possible. Thank you for your patience.
