Tell us a little bit about your job and what it involves I am the key person for promoting waste reduction and recycling in South Holland. This involves visiting schools and community groups, demonstrating how easy it is for them to start recycling in assemblies and presentations. I liaise with other districts and groups to develop recycling initiatives.
I manage the Council's recycling bring sites; close working with operational staff to develop the service and increase participation and understanding of kerbside recycling schemes; completion of statistics and submission of recycling returns; responsibility for the recycling advertising and promotion budgets; responsibility for ordering and maintaining stocks of recycling containers; remain aware of national recycling initiatives and assess viability in South Holland; undertake the role as Risk Assessment Champion for waste and recycling (operational).

What attracted you to working at a local authority? After finishing University I moved home to pay off some of my debts. The job was advertised in a local newspaper and after reading thought that it was something I could apply myself to!!! It was the first job I was interviewed for and I got it!!
What are your career aspirations? I am extremely passionate about all green issues and in terms of my career, I am very much prepared to work hard in order to become a key player in environmental issues. |
