Tell us a little bit about your job and what it involves
My job involves dealing with press queries, producing press releases, taking photographs of Council events, producing graphics for publicity material. It really is very varied and means I get to meet a lot of different, very interesting people!
What do you like about working in Local Government/what are the benefits?
The flexitime. As long as I am in the office from 10am-12pm and from 2pm-4pm, and do 37 hours a week, I can come and go as I please. I wouldn't want to go back to a job where I can't work flexitime. Good working environment - very nice people, nice facilities, good training opportunities.
What attracted you to working at a local authority?
The job seemed ideal - it meant I could do Graphic design (which I love) and also press / media work - which has allowed me to come out of my shell a little and become more confident when talking with other people.
What are your career aspirations?
To work freelance as either a designer or illustrator.
