Housing Benefit and Council Tax Calculation Changes

From 27th October 2008, when we calculate Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit, we will not count any maintenance that you receive for your children when we work out your income.

At the moment we count it all except £15 per week.

This means that if you already receive Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit we will automatically recalculate it and you may get more!

Also, if you receive maintenance and you previously claimed unsuccessfully, you may now qualify if you apply again. Download a claim form for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit/Discount (PDF , 166KB) or contact Customer Services as soon as possible if you wish to make a claim.
