Low Cost Home Ownership

This is a broad title that covers several initiatives.

The aim of Low Cost Home Ownership is to provide people who cannot afford to purchase a suitable property on the open market with alternative methods of achieving home ownership.

The properties are provided by registered social landlords or private developers working in partnership with the Council.

There are two main government funded schemes provided by housing associations in South Holland:

New Build HomeBuy (formerly Shared Ownership)

Part buy, part rent; where you own a percentage of a home and pay rent on the remaining percentage.

Shares start at 25% with the opportunity to buy up to 100%. For more information see New Build HomeBuy (PDF , 126KB)

Open Market HomeBuy

Part buy, part loan; where you buy 75% of a home and get an interest free loan for 5 years on the other 25% and pay back 25% when you sell your home. For more information see Open Market HomeBuy (PDF , 481KB)

If you are interested in the Open Market HomeBuy Scheme contact Home2You.

Other Information

Low cost homes are sometimes advertised in the local papers and it is a good idea to keep an eye out for more information, any new developments, or any existing properties that are being resold as people move. We also recommend that you read our Low Cost Home Ownership leaflet (PDF , 297KB).
