Thinking of Downsizing?

A scheme to help older or vulnerable tenants to downsize to smaller accommodation (usually a bungalow).

Who is it for?

Aimed at tenants aged 60 or over, or vulnerable tenants who are:

  • living in a council house;
  • would like to move to a smaller property;
  • do not have family or friends to help.

How does it help?

If an eligible tenant would like to downsize from a house to a bungalow, we will:

  • give them a high number of points on the housing register so that they are a priority when we are short listing properties;
  • help arrange and pay for removals;
  • help with redirection of mail;
  • help with setting up utilities;
  • decorate the property they are moving into.

Who should I contact?
