Design and Access Statements Guidance Note

Changes are to be made to the outline planning permission process

On 12 April 2006 the Government issued new law which made changes to the outline planning application process including revision of the 'reserved matters' and also introduced a requirement for 'Design and Access Statements' to be submitted with some planning and listed building applications. The changes take effect from 10 August 2006. This Note provides a summary of the changes to the outline application process and the reserved matters and sets out more detailed guidance about Design and Access Statements including when they are required, how to go about writing one and what type and level of detail to include.
