What inspections are required

We will inspect your building work as it progresses, but it is the owner's or developer's responsibility to inform us when the work is ready to be inspected. We offer a guaranteed same day inspection service if you request the inspection before 10:00am.

Every job could be different and will need different inspections doing. If you are in doubt contact Building Control - see the Contacts page.

As a guide the following inspections will be required (inspections in bold are mandatory).

Domestic

  • Commencement
  • Foundation excavation
  • Oversite
  • Damp proof course and membrane
  • Drains layout
  • Drains test
  • Lintols
  • Structural steelwork
  • Floor joists
  • Roof timbers
  • Pre-plaster
  • Completion

Windows

  • Pre-commencement
  • Commencement
  • Completion

Electrics

  • First fix
  • Certification / Completion

Commercial

As per domestic schedule and any additional inspections to be agreed between applicant and Building Control Surveyor.
