Building Control Officer - Another name for a Building Control Surveyor.
Building Inspector - Another name for a Building Control Surveyor.
Building Notice - A building regulation that does not include full plans of the work.
Building Regulation Submission - A notice to carry out building work, either by Building Notice or Full Plans Submission, with the appropriate payment, submitted at the time the application is deposited.
Charges - Fees charged for building control services.
Completion Certificate - A certificate issued by a local authority on completion of works, indicating that the work complies with building regulations.
DSA - District Surveyors Association, the only organisation representing the interests of local authority building control, some 4000 professionals in 378 local authorities.
Full Plans - A building regulation submission which includes full plans of the work, where it is intended that the plans be vetted for compliance with the building regulations prior to work starting on site.
Inspection Charge - (Full Plans only) A fee for the building work due after the first inspection of the work has been carried out: the fee covers all necessary inspections of the work and certification.
LABC Services - Local Authority Building Control Services, the marketing and Promotion arm of the DSA.
LANTAC - Local Authority National Type Approval Confederation.
Plan Charge - The submission fee due when a Full Plans application is submitted. (Not to be confused with your planning fee if appropriate)
Plan Vetting - The process of checking plans submitted under Full Plans Application for compliance with the building regulations.
Regularisation - A process to regularise work which is carried out without a building regulation application. Inspections are carried out retrospectively and may involve exposure of some of the completed work so that the work can be properly inspected.
Rejection Notice - A notice issued by a local authority where they consider that the plans do not show that the work would comply with the building regulations. Ammended plans/information would be required and there is no charge for the resubmission, provided there are no major changes to the proposal.
Submission Charge - A fee for building control work due when a building notice is submitted.
