South Holland Youth Council was developed by a committed group of young people from South Holland. They were supported by South Holland District Council's member and officers, The Rural Action Zone, The Education Business Partnership and representatives from local schools and colleges.
Launched following elections open to all young people across the district aged between 11 and 18, the Youth Council began its work in 2006.
New Elections were held in April 2008 and a new Youth Council elected.
The Youth Council has direct links with decision makers, including Council Leaders, M.P.'s and M.E.P.'s making sure its voice is heard.
South Holland's Youth Council will strive to develop and see improvements to services and facilities for the young people of the District. Furthermore, it will:
- Highlight young peoples' issues in South Holland
- Discuss problems with decision makers
- Be a voice for young people
- Improve the image of young people
- Work with the Lincolnshire Youth Parliament
